Fantastic little hidden gem.The best bartender that I've come across in my travels.Thats saying something, because I seek out cocktails wherever I can find them ..
This was a great little bar near the docks in Hobart. The proprietor was friendly, knowledgeable, and showed us a number of local Australian products that were clearly better than their mass produced counterparts. He made us feel welcome and was super helpful with advice about things to do in the area. Looking forward to returning sometime soon!
Our impression from other more regular patrons when we visited is that the owner is clearly much-loved. This is not without reason -- our drinks were delicious, and he made excellent Australian Gin recommendations.
I want to rate this place 6 out of 5. Incredible. The owner makes the cocktails and has no menu-because a menu is not needed here - anything you want, he can make.
The owner really knows his stuff - a cocktail master at work. No showboating - just fast, efficient, masterful making and a deep knowledge of the craft. Gin is clearly his passion, but when I requested a Brandy Alexander he immediately made a perfect example incorporating rich Tasmanian cream, a creme de cacao brand Id not seen before, and a garnish of nutmeg that had clearly been recently crushed in a mortar and pestle by hand. It was the best Brandy Alexander Ive ever had.
