Good location and that's it!!!Lucky we only ordered entrees. Taste was plane, bad seasoning. Didn't receive meals at the same time even though it wasn't busy at all...Bartenders seemed arrogant and cocky..Nobody really seamed to care....NOT HAPPY
Sadly one of my favourite restaurants in Hobart lacks good service which is not that uncommon in our beautiful city. As a frequent local diner I am qualified to comment. The menu and drinks list was not removed from my table. I sat it on a chair where it remained. Wine was splashed into my glass. I decided to order dessert and no cutlery was delivered before or after the dessert arrived. Guess I will have to ask? Difficult to eat Panacotta without. There are four other diners in the restaurant so being busy is not an excuse. The food is always delicious but without the service do you want to return? Disappointing. Annie
Its my favorite restaurant in Hobart. Class act every time with wonderful service to accompany the outstanding food and wine. Sometimes hard to get a reservation but you can usually rock up and get a seat at the bar if youre flexible.
This place is a tourist trap. Based on location and setting, it tricks the guest into a false sense of comfort. We were a company of 4 who ordered the banquet menu at $75 each with drinks. The fish was dry and tasteless. The meat, overcooked. We ordered the sea urchin which essentially tiny pieces of sea urchin sitting atop a pancake of undercooked batter. The amount served per person per banquet was also less than if you would have ordered individual dishes. As one of our group did not eat red meat, they said that they would swap out a meat dish in one banquet menu for fish. But somehow swapped out all the meat dishes for the other three guests. We should have ordered individual dishes. The worst thing about this whole experience was the wait staff. This place advertises itself as a fine dining experience yet the wait staff would reach over the table to put down your utensils. It's a round table with plenty of space, please walk two steps over and not reach in front of a guest and interrupt conversation. Utensils were not cleared and changed between meals. I'm being critical of this place because it's marketed as some high-class establishment, and with the prices, I expected more. Perhaps the wait staff that night were all in training. The hope is that there are more competent staff on busier nights.
By far the best place in Hobart! Great atmosphere and even better staff. Top spot for just a drink or to dine. Food was fresh and presented well. Wait staff treated us so personally, we felt welcome and relaxed. Made our holiday one to remember! We will definitely be back next time we are here and recommend to anyone visiting Hobart.
