Awesome Japanese restaurant in Hobart. We tried several Japanese craft beers and the selection was amazing. They also had a very extensive whiskey selection. There's also an awesome happy hour with half priced oysters from 4-6pm. The menu also has a great selection of bites to share. Everything we had was delicious.
There's a reason it's booked every night. Some of the best Japanese food I've ever tasted. The food menu is fantastic and there is an extensive cocktail menu as well. Do not miss out coming here if in Hobart
Great staff and very yummi food.I could not believe that I got a Gluten free Japanese beer!!! That was an awesome experience to go there!It is also a good option in Hobart, especially because the opening hours is until late.

I love Japanese food. I lived in Japan for a long time and I found Bar Wa Izakaya to have authentically Japanese food and atmosphere. Everything from the the ceramic tableware to the Japanese speaking staff was like being at a really cool diner in Osaka. That coupled with the amazing local Tasmanian produce (the oysters! OMG the oysters!) and Japanese beers on tap made it the favourite meal that I enjoyed in Hobart on my short stay there. There is a little outdoor area out the back to enjoy post meal drinks. I absolutely loved this place and will be my go to Japanese place in Hobart from now on.
