Happy with the car we hired, however the maps in the GPS seemed to be out of date. The GPS often gave incorrect instructions particularly on freeways, which was quite scary. We were also surprised by the email from the company that no one was available to receive us at Launceston as promised and that we would have to make our own way to the airport described in the email as 250 metres away by foot or by calling a taxi. Given the distance described we went on foot however found the distance was greater than described and the road had no footpath and was dangerous to walk on because of trucks and cars. Drive had agreed to take us to the terminal but did not honour the agreement. Not good enough Drive.
Excellent hire car experience, from start to finish. I couldnt recommend highly enough. Drive Car Hire was the cheapest of all car rental places in the busy January holiday period. Would definitely book through them again when back in Tassie.
I have now used DRIVE twice in past 2 years and both times they have been exceptional. Don't use the big names, try these guys as they are local and they have a great and honest system.
Excellent customer service. Hiring the car was a seamless experience from start to finish. Loved the pre booking , and being able to pick the car up from the airport without having to wait in a queue. Car was great, and dropping off at a different airport went without a hitch. Will definitely use this company again when we next go to Tasmania . Liked being able to support a local company too.
I did not choose this car rental company; my vacation, including the car rental, was arranged on my behalf bay another person, who did an excellent job.Having said that, from my very first interaction with Drive Car Hire I was impressed.They were always fully transparent about my rental. And the process was very easy. Also, even though their rates are lower than the "big guys," the car I had - and the others I spotted at the airport - was no cheap run-down that looked like it might leave you stranded anytime soon (as has happened to my cousin on an international holiday).I followed the link they sent me to do all the authentication upfront, so I did not need to go to their office to collect the car. Unlike rentals with other companies - where you must normally queue at their airport counter to collect your car keys - this one was super easy. I had detailed instructions, so I just went to the car, collected the key and left.The easy collection came in very handy because I had an appointment at a set time and could get there with time to spare!During the rental, I stayed in email contact with them, and they always replied quickly.In summary, then, I whole-heartedly recommend Drive Car Hire for car rentals in Tasmania. If - no, when - I go to Tasmania again, I won't even consider another car rental company. I'd go straight to Drive Car Hire.
